Comprehensive ADHD Assessments

An ADHD assessment is about more than checking off symptoms. We take time to understand what you or your child are experiencing now, how those patterns have developed over time, and what else may be contributing to the picture.

What does an ADHD assessment entail?

While every evaluation is individualized, the process generally moves through four parts:

1. Starting With the Whole Picture

We begin with what brought you here, what you’re experiencing now, and how those concerns are affecting different areas of everyday life. We’ll also talk through relevant health, mental health, and life experiences so we have a broader understanding of what may be part of the picture.

2. Looking Back to Understand What’s Happening Now

We look back at childhood, adolescence, and adulthood to understand when patterns began, how they’ve changed over time, and how they’ve shown up across school, work, relationships, and everyday responsibilities.

3. Adding Another Perspective

With your permission, we gather information from someone who knows you well. This collateral interview helps us compare current and historical patterns with another perspective and adds important context to the evaluation.

4. Bringing It All Together

Once the evaluation is complete, we meet for a feedback session to walk through what we found and help you understand the diagnostic picture. We’ll talk through the results together and discuss personalized recommendations, resources, and next steps.

A thorough process, with time to get it right.
ADHD evaluations take a minimum of four appointments, though some may take longer depending on the complexity of what we’re sorting through and the information needed. If additional psychological testing or another specialized evaluation would be helpful, I may recommend a referral during the process so that information can be considered before we complete the evaluation.
